Point Auctions

About

I missed a music festival once. That's the entire reason this site exists.

I had a stash of Wyndham points sitting around — more than enough to cover the tickets, which were going for several hundred dollars apiece on the open market. The auction had been live on Wyndham's site for less than 24 hours, and I missed the whole thing because I just wasn't paying attention. There's no app, no email, no nothing — you have to go look. That stung enough that I started building Point Auctions the following weekend.

Who's behind this

One guy. Hi. I'm based in Atlanta, which means my home airport is ATL — and yes, I am dimly aware that other airlines technically fly out of there. (My SkyMiles balance disagrees.)

By day I'm a consultant. By weekend I built this. The first working version came together over two or three weekends; everything since has been me overengineering it to the nth degree, adding bells and whistles long past the point where any reasonable person would have stopped. There is no team, no funding, no roadmap committee. If something on the site is great, that was me. If something on the site is broken, also me — yell at me on the contact page and I'll fix it.

Old enough to remember KATE and RedBird

I've been in this hobby long enough to remember both. If those words mean nothing to you, no worries — you don't need the backstory to get value out of this site. If they do mean something to you, hi, I'm probably one of you. Either way, you're in the right place.

A couple of opinions, since you're here

Wyndham is the most underrated auction program. Hard stop. The CPP you can squeeze out of Wyndham points is genuinely great — I've seen auctions land at the equivalent of 4–5 cents per point, with most settling somewhere around half a cent to a cent on the dollar. There are jewels in there: concert tickets, sports packages, festival passes. The catch is that some auctions run for 24 hours and that's it. Miss a day, miss the auction. (Ask me how I know.) Half the reason this site exists is to make that specific mistake harder to make.

The best redemption I've personally pulled off was a round-the-world. I'd planned the whole thing originally as a single ANA award, but the hard requirements and routing rules were going to drive me crazy, so I bailed on it for the flexibility of doing it myself. Pulling together reservations across eight or nine different airlines turned out to be roughly the same level of difficulty as the ANA RTW, all things considered — hindsight, 20/20. But the flexibility was wonderful, and it was a much better trip for it.

Built with AI, and I'm not going to be coy about it

I've always been curious about code but never made it past “hello, world.” Claude Code changed that. The whole site — frontend, backend, database, every scraper — was built with it, and I've learned more in the last few months working with an AI than I did in years of trying to teach myself the old way.

That's honestly a big chunk of why this exists in the form it does. I wanted to see what it was actually like to ship a real, useful thing end-to-end with Claude as my co-builder. The Wyndham festival was the spark; the reps with Claude Code were the fuel. Somewhere along the way I picked up a feel for which prompting patterns work, when to hand it the wheel, and when to grab it back.

So what is this, exactly?

A single search across every points-and-miles auction site I could find — 19 loyalty programs at last count, updating constantly. Auctions, buy-it-nows, raffles, the lot. Filter by program, by category, by where the experience actually is. The browse experience is free and always will be; a paid monthly tier for real-time alerts is on the way for folks who want a heads-up the moment something they care about lands. No markup, no affiliate links, no selling your email. If it's listed here, it's listed at the source — I'm just making sure you can see it.

I pick auctions and buy-it-now items Claude has surfaced and post to X two or three times a day, plus whenever the site does something new and occasionally when something's broken.

Disclaimer

The legal-ish bit: Point Auctions is independent. I don't work for, partner with, or earn a kickback from any of the loyalty programs listed above — I just point you to the auctions. Always double-check details on the program's actual site before bidding; these sites change without warning, and I'm one person trying to keep up.
