PointAuctions.com ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

Who operates this site

PointAuctions.com is operated by PickaPoint LLC, a Georgia (USA) limited liability company. PickaPoint LLC is the entity responsible for the data described in this policy. If you have any questions or want to exercise your rights, reach us through our Contact page.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and any profile information you choose to provide. We use Supabase Auth for authentication and do not store passwords directly.

Newsletter Subscription

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address to send you weekly updates about notable auctions and deals. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

Tips and Reminder Emails

If you have an account, we may email you tips and reminders. These include a heads-up before free Premium ends, what an alert that paused would have matched, and suggestions for setting up an alert. We send them at most about once every 3 days. Suggestions can be based on listings you have saved, point balances you have saved, your alert filters, listings you clicked in our emails, and the page you first arrived on.

You can opt out at any time by turning off "Tips and reminders" under Email preferences in your account settings, or with the one-click unsubscribe link in each of these emails. Turning them off does not affect alert emails or the weekly digest.

Email Opens and Clicks

Our emails record when they are opened and which links in them are clicked. This is done through our email provider, and we use it to measure which emails are useful.

Messages You Send Us

When you use our contact form or email an @pointauctions.com address, we store your message, your name and email address, and our replies, so we can answer you. For contact form submissions we also store the IP address and browser information sent with the form. We keep these messages until we delete them.

Usage Data

We automatically collect usage data including pages visited, referral sources, and general device and browser information. This is collected through Vercel Analytics, which does not use cookies, and through Google Analytics, which does. If you arrive from a link with campaign tags on it, we record those tags so we can tell which campaigns bring people to the site. See Cookies below.

When you open one of the short links we post with our videos, we store the time of the visit, the browser or app name and version, device model and system version your device reports, and your approximate location (country, region and city) for 90 days, so we can tell real visits from link-preview robots. Your IP address is checked at the moment of the visit to recognize those robots and is not stored.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the service - display aggregated listing data, power search and filtering, and manage your account.
• Send newsletters - deliver our weekly Points Pulse email to subscribers.
• Improve the product - understand usage patterns to make PointAuctions.com more useful.
• Send tips and reminders - email account holders at most about once every 3 days with reminders and suggestions for getting more from alerts, based on the information described above.
• Measure our emails - use email open and link click records to see which emails are useful.
• Communicate with you - respond to messages sent through our contact form or to an @pointauctions.com address.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data with the following service providers who process data on our behalf:

• Supabase - database hosting and authentication
• Vercel - website hosting and analytics
• Resend - email delivery, including open and click measurement
• Google - website analytics (Google Analytics)
• Stripe - payment processing for Premium subscriptions

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.

5. Cookies

PointAuctions.com uses essential cookies for authentication and session management, and analytics cookies to understand how the site is used.

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser, named _ga and _ga_*, which let us count visitors and see which pages and features get used. Vercel Analytics is cookie-free. We also store a small record in your browser of the campaign link you arrived from, so that if you later create an account we can tell which campaign brought you here.

We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies, and we do not sell your personal information or share it with advertisers.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your use of the site; blocking essential cookies will prevent you from staying signed in.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Newsletter subscriber emails are retained until you unsubscribe. Messages you send us through the contact form or by email are kept until we delete them. Records of visits to the short links we post with our videos are deleted after 90 days. Anonymous usage analytics are retained indefinitely in aggregate form.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data stored with us.
• Correct inaccurate information in your account.
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Unsubscribe from our newsletter, or from tips and reminders, at any time.
• Export your data in a portable format.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication via Supabase, and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Children's Privacy

PointAuctions.com is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
