How Southwest Rapid Rewards auctions work
Southwest's experience lane is the Rapid Rewards Cardmember Access Events: curated, cardholder-only events - private concerts, golf weekends at courses like Pebble Beach, culinary destination weekends - available exclusively to Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card holders through the cardmember events portal. The calendar runs event by event through the year, roughly one boutique event per month in a different city.
Each event is sold as a points auction with a fixed-price escape hatch: you bid Rapid Rewards points against other cardmembers, or skip the bidding entirely with the Redeem Now option at a published ceiling price. Because the bidder pool is limited to cardholders who can actually attend a fixed date in a fixed city, competition can be thin, and the winning bid - not Southwest's revenue engine - sets the price.
PointAuctions.com tracks the Southwest Access Events listings as they appear and archives them after they close, alongside the eighteen other loyalty programs we follow, so the cardmember-only calendar is visible without holding the card.
Southwest Rapid Rewards auction FAQs
How do Southwest Rapid Rewards Access Events work?
Access Events are cardmember-only experience packages sold as points auctions: you bid Rapid Rewards points against other Chase Southwest cardholders, and the winning bid takes the package. Each event also carries a Redeem Now fixed-price option if you would rather not bid at all.
Who can bid on Southwest Access Events?
Only holders of a Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards credit card - the consumer Plus, Premier, and Priority cards or the business cards - with access to the cardmember events portal. A regular Rapid Rewards account or A-List elite status on its own does not qualify.
Which credit cards transfer to Southwest Rapid Rewards?
Chase Ultimate Rewards and Bilt Rewards both transfer to Rapid Rewards at 1:1, which is how you top up a balance for a bid. Note that transferring points in does not by itself unlock Access Events - bidding still requires holding a Southwest credit card.
What is the Redeem Now option on Access Events?
A fixed-price ceiling that lets you claim an event package outright instead of bidding - recently published at 250,000 points, though you should confirm the figure on the specific event. The auction can clear well under that ceiling when few cardmembers show up, which is the whole appeal of bidding instead.
