How Delta SkyMiles Experiences auctions work
SkyMiles Experiences (skymilesexperiences.com) is Delta's marketplace for redeeming SkyMiles on concerts, sports hospitality, culinary events, and behind-the-scenes access. Since its November 2024 relaunch it is overwhelmingly an auction platform: a small instant-purchase tier exists, but nearly everything Delta lists is a lot you win by bidding miles against other members.
Bids move in 1,000-mile increments with proxy bidding: set a maximum once and the platform bids only as high as it needs. A bid in the final stretch extends the close by about five minutes, so a last-second snipe just resets the clock. Bids are final and cannot be withdrawn, miles are charged only if you win, and your balance must cover every bid you have pending at once - leading several auctions effectively reserves your miles against all of them.

How do Delta SkyMiles Experiences auctions work?
You bid SkyMiles in 1,000-mile increments, with proxy bidding up to a maximum you set. A late bid extends the close by about five minutes, bids are final once placed, and miles are charged only if you win. You can only bid if your account covers all of your pending bids at once.
How much do Delta SkyMiles auctions usually go for?

Which credit cards transfer to Delta SkyMiles?
American Express Membership Rewards is the only major bank currency with a direct transfer to Delta SkyMiles, at 1:1. If your flexible points live elsewhere, there is no direct route in.
Why are Delta auctions so competitive?
SkyMiles is one of the largest loyalty programs in the world, so the bidder pool is enormous, and Delta seeds the platform with genuinely scarce lots. The proxy-plus-soft-close design also rewards bidders who set a high ceiling and let the auto-extension run, which pushes contested lots higher than a hard close would.
Are my miles held while I bid on Delta?
No - miles are charged only if you win, and losing bidders see no change to their balance. But Delta requires enough miles in your account to cover all pending bids at once, so bidding on several lots at the same time effectively reserves your balance against all of them.
