Interact with the local salt farmers of Kusamba, the very artisans who produce the salt used in Alila Seminyak, as they skillfully utilize traditional evaporation techniques. Witness the mesmerizing process as they collect seawater in buckets, carefully pouring it over meticulously raked sand. Through the harmonious blend of sun and wind, observe the creation of Balinese fleur de sel (flower of salt) - a culinary gem deeply rooted in Balinese heritage. From there, journey to Tenganan village and be guided by locals through a sanctuary of tradition, architecture, and craftsmanship. Here, you can witness the intricate process of Double Ikat weaving firsthand - Gringsing Cloth Weaving, a skill passed down through generations. Double Ikat is a traditional Indonesian textile woven using a complex double-bonding technique. This intricate process involves resist-dyeing both the warp and weft threads before weaving, resulting in highly prized and distinctive patterns. The term 'Gringsing' itself conveys the cloth's sacred nature, with 'Gring' meaning sick and 'Sing' meaning no, reflecting its role in warding off illness and evil spirits. The day draws to a close at Seasalt restaurant in our sister resort Alila Manggis.
