What 2,000 Closed Points Auctions Reveal About Each Program's Auction Market

When a points auction ends, most platforms quietly delete it. We don't. PointAuctions.com keeps every closed auction as a permanent results page, and that archive has now passed 2,000 decided auctions. This is the first proper look at what the winning bids actually show, program by program.

A note on method before the numbers. We report actual points, in the currency of each program. A Marriott point, an Avios, and a SkyMile are different currencies with different earn rates, so the medians below are best read within a program, not across them. For cross-program comparisons, lean on auction volume and bids per auction rather than the raw point figures. The big board

For each program: closed auctions with a trusted winning bid, the median winning bid, the typical range (the middle half of all closes, from the 25th to the 75th percentile), and the average number of bids per auction.

Marriott Bonvoy: 1,018 closes. Median 105,000 points, typical range 40,000 to 347,000. Average 19.6 bids.

Accor ALL: 266 closes. Median 42,000 points, typical range 12,000 to 51,000. Average 5.2 bids.

Delta SkyMiles: 149 closes. Median 131,000 miles, typical range 55,000 to 276,000. Average 33.3 bids.

Qatar Privilege Club: 139 closes. Median 90,000 Avios, typical range 29,500 to 199,000. Average 6.6 bids.

Wyndham Rewards: 106 closes. Median 40,000 points, typical range 30,000 to 75,000. Average 2.4 bids.

Hilton Honors: 60 closes. Median 250,000 points, typical range 106,500 to 396,000.

United MileagePlus: 27 closes. Median 55,000 miles, typical range 38,500 to 160,500. Average 19.4 bids.

Choice Privileges: 21 closes. Median 70,000 points, typical range 60,000 to 103,000. Average 3.6 bids.

Alaska Atmos Rewards: 9 closes. Median 430,000 points, typical range 290,000 to 600,000. Average 6.2 bids.

IHG One Rewards: 7 closes. Median 66,000 points, typical range 52,500 to 160,000. Average 5.4 bids.

World of Hyatt (FIND): 3 closes. Median 466,513 points. Average 130 bids.

Emirates Skywards: 2 closes, both at 80,000 miles.

Delta, IHG, and World of Hyatt take auctions offline the moment they end, so for those three the figures above are the last bids we observed before close rather than verified finals. Read them as floors, not exact sale prices. (How much the final bid typically climbs past the last number a bidder sees is the subject of our companion data post, what late bidding adds.)

Marriott: two markets wearing one badge

Marriott Bonvoy Moments accounts for nearly six in ten closes in the archive, and it behaves like two different marketplaces. Sports packages closed at a median of 335,000 points with 30 bids on average. Entertainment closed at a median of 42,500 points with about 9 bids. Same program, same bidding interface, an eight-fold price gap.

The sports end is where the blockbusters live. Marriott's FIFA World Cup inventory alone produced more than 300 closed auctions, at a FIFA-wide median around 390,000 points, and the priciest World Cup packages closed between 2,352,500 and 3,002,500 points. A reminder on reading those: auctions sharing one title are not always the same item. Marriott's World Cup listings span many match dates and cardmember restrictions under near-identical names, so treat each as its own lot. Delta: the bidding war

Delta SkyMiles Experiences is the most contested marketplace we track at scale, averaging 33 bids per auction, many times the typical hotel program. The surprise inside the data is culinary. Chef-led trips and tasting events closed at a median of 252,000 miles with about 46 bids each, the most fought-over food inventory anywhere we track. Travel packages ran a 176,000-mile median with about 43 bids.

The quiet aisles: Accor, Wyndham, Choice

At the other extreme, three programs do most of their business in near silence. If your points balance is small and you would rather not fight a bidding war, this is your end of the pool (and our bargain hunter's guide to uncontested auctions goes deeper on where the quiet wins hide).

Accor entertainment: median 12,000 points, average 1.5 bids. Most of these close with zero or one bid.

Wyndham Rewards: 2.4 bids on average across its whole catalog. Harry Styles suite tickets at Madison Square Garden ran six times and closed between 100,000 and 155,000 points.

Choice Privileges: 3.6 bids on average, with NASCAR shop tours closing as low as 5,000 points.

The big-ticket houses: Hilton, Alaska, Hyatt

Hilton Honors runs fewer, larger auctions: a 250,000-point median, and the McLaren F1 packages (we covered the paddock experience) produced the single largest close in the entire archive, 4,410,000 points for a Canadian Grand Prix weekend. Alaska's closes, mostly tied to its Europe inaugurals, run from 290,000 to 600,000 points through the middle of the pack, with a 430,000-point median. And World of Hyatt's three FIND auctions averaged 130 bids each, the most contested individual auctions we have ever recorded (mind the binding-bid rules).

Qatar: stadium prices, club-show bargains

Qatar Privilege Club splits cleanly in two. Sports hospitality closed at a 160,000-Avios median. Concerts at The O2 closed around a 27,800-Avios median, and the cheapest win in the whole archive lives here too: a JOJI show for 1,500 Avios.

About this data

• Figures come from the PointAuctions.com closed-auction archive as of June 13, 2026: more than 2,000 closed auctions, more than 1,800 with a trusted closing price, collected March through June 2026. "Trusted" means a close with a real winning price on record, not a starting price frozen at close with no bids.

• Every per-program median, range, and bid average above is computed on that one trusted-close pool, so the programs are measured the same way.

• For most programs we verify the winning bid after close. Delta, IHG, and World of Hyatt remove their auctions at close, so for those three the figures are the last bids we observed and should be read as floors, not verified finals. We do not have verified sale prices for them, so we do not claim a precise gap between the last bid and the final price.

• Hilton is shown without a bidding-competition average. Most closed Hilton auctions do carry a bid count, but coverage is partial enough that we leave the average off rather than over-read it.

• All prices are actual points bid. We do not convert points to dollar values.
