The Maldives on Points: Floating Afternoon Tea, Villa Auctions, and 60 Live Listings

Everyone knows you can book a Maldives *room* with points. What most people don't know is that the experiences layer (the spa treatments, the private dinners, the seaplane itself) has quietly become bookable with points too. Across the platforms we track on PointAuctions.com, there are usually 36 live Maldives listings at any given time, spanning Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, and World of Hyatt.

Here's the full picture, from a 4,000-point yoga session to a seven-figure private island stay.

The photogenic one: floating afternoon tea

The one that gets the most attention is the Floating Afternoon Tea at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi: a tray of pastries and sandwiches floating in your villa pool, bookable through Hilton Honors Experiences for 50,000 points, fixed price, no bidding.

Whether that's a good use of 50,000 points depends on your cents-per-point math, but as a no-cash add-on to an award stay, it's one of the few ways to make an already-free trip feel more expensive than it was.

The Marriott angle: seven-figure stay auctions

Marriott Bonvoy Moments runs occasional Maldives stay auctions, and these are full stays, not on-property add-ons. They tend to show up as private-island festival packages and villa stays at properties like the St. Regis on Vommuli Island, with openings that routinely land north of a million points.

Here is the part worth understanding before you bid. The price you see on a Moments lot is the current minimum bid, not a buy-it-now price. These are competitive auctions with no ceiling: bids rise in 2,500-point increments, and you can set a maximum (proxy) bid that auto-outbids others up to your cap. The highest bidder when the lot closes (auctions typically run 15-30 days) wins. Because the audience for a specific Indian-Ocean week is small, lightly-watched lots often draw few or no competing bids and clear at or near that opening number, but a single opening bid only wins if nobody outbids you before the close. That is the pattern we keep seeing across the closed-auction results we track by program. When a Maldives lot is live it shows up on our Marriott Bonvoy program page, so check there for the current opening and close date before you commit.

Hilton: spa, dinners, and the seaplane itself

Hilton Honors Experiences carries the deepest fixed-price Maldives catalog, spread across Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi, Hilton Maldives Amingiri, and SAii Lagoon. A sampling at each price tier:

25,000 points: Cocktails Under the Sea at Conrad Rangali; aqua wellness therapy at the Waldorf; beachside padel at Amingiri

50,000 points: the floating afternoon tea; cocktail master class; Chinese cooking class at Ufaa by Jereme Leung; full-body massage at Conrad Rangali

100,000 points: 5-course dinner at Terra; Maldivian culinary adventure; signature spa treatment

150,000 points: couples massages; Turkish royal ceremony spa day; and the genuinely useful one, an adult seaplane transfer to Conrad Rangali (75,000 for children, and Amingiri speedboat transfers run 50,000 to 100,000)

Those transfers are the line to watch. Maldives seaplane transfers are the notorious cash sting on an otherwise-free award stay, and Hilton lets you settle that bill in points instead.

Hyatt: the 4,000-point end of the spectrum

World of Hyatt's FIND platform lists dozens of experiences at Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa (Gaafu Alifu Atoll) and Alila Kothaifaru, and this is where the entry prices get almost trivial:

Under 10,000 points: yoga (3,929), house reef guided snorkeling (4,643), dolphin cruise (6,429), floating breakfast (7,071), cooking class (8,571)

10,000 to 20,000 points: night dives, turtle quests, freediving, private beach dinners, Shirodhara spa rituals

The splurge: private big game fishing at 85,714 points

Free: a couple of listings (reef talks, conservation snorkels) are listed at zero points

If you're new to FIND, read our Hyatt FIND beginner's guide first, and because FIND bids can be binding, skim why one bad FIND bid can burn your points before you commit.

How to think about all this

These platforms price on-property extras in points, and that cuts both ways. Some listings are clearly priced for people who don't do the math. Others, like the transfers and the cheap FIND activities, are quiet wins that turn stranded points into things you'd have paid cash for anyway. Run the comparison against the resort's cash price for the same item before you commit; in the Maldives there is always a cash price. For a sense of what these lots actually clear at over time, our closed-auction archive keeps every past result.

The bottom line

The Maldives points game no longer ends at the room booking. Between Hilton's catalog, Hyatt's FIND list, and Marriott's occasional blockbuster auctions, you can now assemble most of a Maldives trip (the stay, the transfer, the dinners, the spa day, the floating tray of scones) without touching your wallet.

Browse everything live on our Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt, and Marriott Bonvoy program pages, see what past lots actually cleared at in the closed-auction archive, or find the whole Maldives cluster at once on the map. For more on the Marriott side, we also track the Ritz-Carlton yacht and other Bonvoy Moments lots and how to time a Moments bid.
